18 Taiwanese Supernatural Creatures

These 18 monster illustrations, completed in January 2017, represent the epitome of human emotions and implications of human behaviours. Inspired by my grandma’s supernatural bedtime stories and her real-life spooky experiences, I began to wonder if there were any more mysterious creatures in Taiwan. Therefore, I looked up magical creatures in literature and created a list of nearly 300. I brought 18 of them back to life based on the ancient Chinese descriptions and folklore, turning them from words to images.
